HOOPSHOTS NAMES HAKEEM WARD OFFICIAL COACH HOOPSHOTS INTERNATIONAL TEAM

Before pursuing coaching as a profession, I had a long and fruitful basketball career. In my early collegiate career, I led Ventura College to two California State Championships. I then transferred to the University of San Francisco where I led the Dons to the 1998 NCAA Tournament and earned the West Coast Conference – Most Valuable Player Award. I continued my Professional Basketball Career overseas in Europe for 7 years before returning to the United States to pursue my love of coaching.

In Summer 2011, I returned home to Ventura College as an Assistant Coach because I wanted to give back to a program that prepared me as a young professional. Since then, the Ventura College Men’s Basketball Team has won the Western State Conference Championships in 2013, 2016, and 2017. Most recently, I am seeking a Head Basketball Coaching position while pursuing my Masters Degree. I’m excited about giving back to the game of basketball, developing student- athletes to reach their full potential, and supporting growth in communities who have assisted in my success.
